Your driver guide from La Reve Gorillas Uganda will pick you up from your hotel in Kigali or the airport to start your 3-day trip. After a brief overview of the itinerary, enjoy a city tour of Kigali. Explore various tourist destinations such as the Kigali Genocide Memorial Centre, the Presidential Palace, and Kimironko Market for local food and fresh fruits. Experience the serene atmosphere of Kigali, known as the cleanest city in Africa. Have lunch in the city centre before driving northwest to Volcanoes National Park. Relax at the lodge in preparation for the next day’s gorilla trek.
Day 2: Gorilla Trekking & Ibyiwacu Cultural Tour
The highly anticipated day of trekking gorillas has arrived! Wake up early, have breakfast, and head to Kinigi Park headquarters for registration and a briefing on gorilla trekking guidelines. You will be grouped with eight others and assigned a gorilla family to visit. At 8:00 am, venture into the jungle to encounter these magnificent creatures. The duration of the trek can vary from 30 minutes to over 8 hours. After gorilla trekking, visit the Ibyiwacu Community Village for a cultural performance. Immerse yourself in the traditions, norms, and cultures of Rwanda through storytelling, traditional dances, and songs. You can also participate in activities like preparing local foods and brewing local beer, enhancing your cultural experience.
Day 3: Departure
Your final day in Volcanoes National Park begins with a leisurely breakfast at the lodge. Check out and embark on a scenic drive back to Kigali International Airport, reminiscing about the magical hills of Rwanda.
